Acid wrapped (spiral) Heavy troller

My first build. Purchased as part of an intro to rodbuilding kit from Mudhole I had no idea what I was buying. We often use 30 lb test line for trolling and this rod was rated for 20 - 60 lb line. Seemed like a good fit but really was not prepared for how heavy a rod this turned out to be. It's more geared for 60 lb than 20 lb for sure but it is still a lovely trolling rod that sees much use even if it is more suited to saltwater fishing.

I fished it for a time and one day spontaneously handed it to my oldest son and told him it was his and he went out that very day and caught a 25 to 30 pound lake trout on it....his first fish on that rod. It has caught many fish since then.

I learned a lot doing this rod. I learned that the thread you see before you apply epoxy can bear little resemblance to the thread with epoxy on it. My lovely black and grey variegated thread basically turned black unless you look at it closely in the sun. I learned epoxy is hard to do. I learned that a whole day can slip by fussing over it all. I can see so many imperfections but all in all it turned out very well and it represents my introduction to my current obsession.
